Welcome to the challenges section. If you are familiar with archive sites that are similar to mine because of using the same efiction software to build it, you may have noticed that this page is a little different than the other archives. The challenge module that came with the software, for some reason didn't work for me, so I decided to create my own version of it. I am trying to keep it as similar to the look of the module as I can though.

On this page, you can submit/Issue a challenge using the Issue Challenge link below. Or you can look through the challenges that have already been issued to see if you would like to write a story in response to that challenge. I will also try to add a link to all challenge responses from challenges issued here below the challenge, so visitors can find the challenges that way as well as through the archive.

Here are the Challenges that have been submitted/issued so far:

"Changing the Galaxy Challenge" Issued by: Yoda I Am Issue Date: 6/3/2017 # of Challenge Responses: 0  Category/Subcategory: Any Category/Subcategory   Characters: Any Characters

Challenge Description:

Write a story in which a major character from Star Wars dies before they did in the movies (if they did in the movies); or a character who died in the movies does not die. This will cause drastic changes to the Star Wars galaxy as we know it.

Some Examples are: Qui-Gon Jinn died before becoming Obi-Wan's Master; Qui-Gon didn't die at all; Yoda died 300 (or however many you choose) years BBY; Shimi Skywalker died before giving birth to Anakin; Luke dies on Tatooine at the age of 8-years-old; etc.

You must write how this will affect the galaxy. For instance, if you choose to write a story where Qui-Gon didn't die in the Phantom Menace how will the galaxy be different? Would Qui-Gon train Anakin instead of Obi-Wan and how would that have changed the galaxy? If he trained Ani how would it affect Obi-Wan's relationship with Qui-Gon (would he resent Qui-Gon for pushing him away, or would he remain loyal to his old Master)? Would Anakin still turn to the darkside? There are many possibilities, but there must be a drastic change to the galaxy.

***This is another challenge that was submitted to my old website back in 2005.

Write a story where the Master and Apprentice switch places. It can be a Jedi Master and Padawan or Sith Master and Apprentice of any time period.
They switch roles and responsibilities due to what ever reason. Not a switch of bodies or personalities.
No one in authority can know about the switch until the end of the mission.

"Slave Obi-Wan Challenge" Issued by: Peggy Schultz   Issue Date: 2005   # of Challenge Responses: 0  Category/Subcategory: Rise of the Empire/Jedi Apprentice  Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi & Qui-Gon Jinn
Challenge Description:

***This was a challenge that I wrote for my old website back in 2005.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is kidnapped while left behind on Melida/Dann by Xanatos, the elders, Nield, who ever you would like, and is sold into slavery either by a large slavery ring, or simply made to be the slave of whomever kidnapped him.

When Qui-Gon finally returns for Obi-Wan it is too late, he's already been taken. Qui-Gon should feel guilty for leaving his Padawan on Melida/Dann and search for Obi-Wan for quite a while possibly years before he finally gives up hope and assumes that Obi-Wan was lost.

However long you choose after giving up on his Padawan Qui-Gon will find him either by shear luck, an anonymous tip, a confession from a criminal wanting to reduce his prison sentence, or even the guilt ridden kidnapper or accomplice on his death bed the choice is up to you, but Obi-Wan should be found. You must write how Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan will react to each other; will Obi-Wan be relieved to see Qui-Gon or will he blame Qui-Gon for what happened? You could even give Obi-Wan amnesia. After so long of being a slave what are the affects of it on Obi-Wan, how is he different from the boy Qui-Gon remembered?

Your challenge responses can be rated what ever you would like it to be. Just keep in mind that challenge responses have the potential of featuring dark subject matter and should be submitted with the appropriate ratings and warnings. Happy writing.  :)
